Screambox has announced that production is complete on YOUR DEAREST DARKEST FRIEND, a talk show hosted by Ted Raimi.
Raimi, a veteran of his brother Sam’s films as well as CANDYMAN and THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN, also produced the series with Tony Wash, Charlie Queen, and Lauren Leshansky. According to the press release, the show is set inside a “frightfully fantastical home” and brings together minds in modern horror for conversations that are described as intimate and offbeat.
The format features Raimi interviewing guests while interacting with “haunted puppet pals. ” Raimi acknowledged the unconventional nature of the concept, stating, “Yes, it’s weird,” and adding, “Truthfully, it’s a very odd concept for a talk show. ” He noted that the producers wanted an “authentic horror insider show” that would feel like part of the family, rather than treating the genre like an outsider.
Producer Tony Wash described the series as “comfort food for nostalgic horror fans. ” Charlie Queen added that the concept came from Raimi’s “quirky yet twisted mind” and is a blend of genres that feels fresh while maintaining a classic quality.
