Shudder has acquired The Glorious Dead, the new apocalyptic horror film from the Adams Family, for a 2027 release on the streaming service. Fangoria broke the news on September 19 during the film’s run at Fantastic Fest. No exact release date has been set yet.

The Adams Family is described as the most self-contained operation in horror, with Yellow Veil Pictures handling sales. The film was first taken to buyers at the Frontières showcase in Cannes in May.

The plot centers on a small-town sheriff and her deputy facing a very bad day. Poser plays Sheriff Deb, while her daughter Zelda Adams plays deputy Mikey. They wake up to find their town has quietly stopped working: people are disappearing, blood runs from the taps, creatures move through the woods, and the dead are returning. Judith Roberts, John Adams, and Lulu Adams round out the cast.

The film had its world premiere at Fantasia in July, played FrightFest in London in August, and had its U. S. premiere at Fantastic Fest. Reviews have followed the family’s usual pattern of being strange and specific. Dread Central’s FrightFest review noted a Fargo echo regarding a female sheriff holding a snowbound town together while it comes apart.
