Briarcliff Entertainment has set an October 2 release for Nickels, a supernatural horror drama starring Rob Riggle. Dread Central, citing Deadline, reports that the film will open in select theaters and arrive on premium video-on-demand on the same day.

Riggle plays Tom Monroe, a successful entrepreneur and devoted family man whose older brother died in a motorcycle accident when Tom was a teenager. The character has never recovered from that loss. His search for answers affects the people closest to him, including his daughter, played by Odessa A’zion, and his wife, played by Bitsie Tulloch.

The supplied story description says Tom must confront grief, faith and the possibility of second chances. Those are the confirmed dramatic elements attached to the project; the report does not spell out the supernatural mechanism behind his search or reveal further plot turns.

Cast and filmmakers

Spencer King directed Nickels from a screenplay by Tim Tuchrello. Alongside Riggle, A’zion and Tulloch, the cast includes Rebecca Gayheart, Vinessa Shaw, Aaron Holliday and Tom Arnold. Gayheart’s previous horror credits include Urban Legend and Scream 2, while Shaw appeared in The Hills Have Eyes and Hocus Pocus.

Tom Ortenberg, Danielle Goodman Strong, Andrew Ortenberg and Jordan Dykstra produced the film. Its executive producers are Russell Geyser and Clay Pecorin of Rainmaker Films, Randy Manis, Richard Rapkowski and Robert Paschall Jr.

The production filmed at locations around Los Angeles. Luke Dyra served as cinematographer, Amir Mosallaie edited the film, and Charles LaGola handled production design. Jennifer DeRosa designed the costumes, and Isaac Middleton composed the music.

What the October date covers

The October 2 plan covers both the select theatrical opening and PVOD availability. Briarcliff has not identified the participating cinemas or provided a territory-by-territory theater list in the available report. The source also does not give a physical-media date or name individual digital storefronts.

That leaves the central release information straightforward: Nickels will be available to rent or buy through premium video-on-demand on the same date that its limited cinema run begins. Additional theater and platform details have not yet been included in the announcement.

Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg described the film in terms of enduring bonds and its treatment of grief. The available report identifies Riggle, A’zion and Tulloch with specific family roles, but it does not disclose the characters played by Gayheart, Shaw, Holliday or Arnold. It likewise does not provide a trailer date, runtime or age rating. Those details remain separate from the confirmed October 2 release plan.
