BOOM! Studios has officially announced two new ongoing Hellraiser comic series, expanding the Clive Barker franchise into 2027. The new titles, Hellraiser: Hellbound Hearts and Hellraiser: New Parables, are set to delve into the Labyrinth, continuing the publisher’s recent push to revive the horror IP.
Hellraiser: Hellbound Hearts is scheduled to launch in January 2027. The series pairs writer Mike Costa with artist Jan Bazaldua. According to the announcement, the story centers on a ragtag group of survivors who bear physical and psychological scars from previous encounters with the Cenobites. Armed with the Lament Configuration and fueled by resentment, these characters seek out the dark forces, raising the question of whether they are prepared to hear what Pinhead has to say.
This announcement follows BOOM! Studios’ recent release of three classic Barker comic series and the announcement of five all-new one-shots. HorrorFuel reports that studios have been actively resurrecting the Hellraiser franchise this year.
Mike Costa described working on the Hellraiser universe as a daunting challenge. In a statement, he noted that Barker’s original stories are special because they make readers feel “ugly and bad” and “uncomfortable in your own skin. ” Costa praised Bazaldua’s artistic partnership, highlighting the need to dig into deeply uncomfortable territory to honor the source material.
The release of these two series marks a significant expansion for the Hellraiser comics line. While the specific plot details for Hellraiser: New Parables were not detailed in the initial report, both titles are positioned to explore the horrific depths of the Labyrinth. The January 2027 start date for Hellbound Hearts provides a concrete timeline for fans expecting new content from the publisher.
