Lionsgate has announced that Mike P. Nelson will direct the next installment of the Saw franchise. This development confirms the creative team behind the upcoming entry in the long-running horror series.

The film is written by Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock, who are also credited on Below and Dune: Prophecy. Executive producers for the project include Mark Burg, Oren Koules, Stacey Testro, Michael Clear, and Judson Scott. Alayna Glasthal and Sarah Paek are overseeing the film for Atomic Monster, the production company associated with Wan.

Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, made the official announcement regarding Wan’s return to the franchise. In a statement, Fogelson noted that Wan’s belief in Nelson evokes Wan’s own breakthrough with the original Saw. He described Nelson as one of the promising voices shaping the next generation of horror, expressing confidence in the director’s singular vision for the film.

Wan commented on the decision to bring Nelson on board, stating that making the original Saw was a defining experience for him. He emphasized that it was essential to find a director who would honor that world. Nelson responded to the appointment by describing the opportunity to work with Wan as a dream come true.

The announcement was reported by iHorror, citing details from a press release. No release date, cast members, or further production details have been announced at this time. The project remains in the early stages of development, with the primary focus currently on the confirmed creative team.
