Production has completed on My Shadow, a horror-comedy featuring Michael St. Michael, the star of Greasy Strangler. According to a report from Horror Society, the film is scheduled for a 2027 release and marks the third feature for writer/director Jeff Frumess. His previous works include Romeo’s Distress (2017) and Gouge Away (2023).
St. Michael plays a supporting role as Dr. Dollar, a “mad scientist type” who has found and commodified irresponsible means of bringing the deceased back from death. The character’s actions drive the central conflict of the film, which centers on Robert, a painter. Robert struggles with the sudden demise and grisly resurrection of his best friend, a rabbit named Shadow.
The plot follows Robert’s attempt to take the girl-next-door, Sydney, to the Jovial Halloween Ball. His plans are complicated by Shadow, who aspires to be a rock n roll singer and refuses to stop eating the people Robert knows. The film’s tone blends these absurd elements with a visual style described as grainy black and white with hints of occasional color.
Horror Society notes that the film finds inspiration in cult classics such as Reanimator, Pet Sematary, and Little Shop of Horrors. The first trailer for My Shadow had its world premiere at the Genreblast Film Festival, held at the Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester, Virginia. No specific theatrical release date or distribution details were provided in the report beyond the 2027 year.
