MegaHouse has opened preorders for a new Spider Head figure based on The Thing, John Carpenter’s 1982 creature horror landmark. The collectible joins the company’s Soft Vinyl Fantastic line, recreating the creature’s grotesque spider-legged head from the film. This release marks the latest officially licensed merchandise for the title, which has undergone a significant critical reappraisal since its initial 1982 release was overshadowed by E. T. at the box office.

The 4. 7-inch vinyl figure depicts one of the movie’s most notorious practical effects: the disembodied, spider-legged head that scuttles away from an assimilated corpse. The official product description characterizes the design as striking “an exquisite balance between a realistic facial expression and stylized body proportions.

Two distinct versions are currently available for purchase. The flesh-colored Collector Edition is priced at $125 USD, while the purple Limited Color Version costs $130 USD. Both items are sold exclusively through Sideshow Collectibles. Purchase limits are in effect, allowing customers to buy up to six units of the Collector Edition and two units of the Limited Color Version.

Shipping for the figures is expected in early 2027, with an estimated arrival window of February 2027. The figure serves as a tangible piece of the film’s legacy, capturing a specific moment of body horror that has become iconic in the genre.
