Matthew Lillard says Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 is moving toward production in 2027. iHorror relays his comments to Bloody Disgusting, where he said an early screenplay had arrived and the team was preparing for the next stage.
Lillard appeared in both previous films and is expected to return. Gary Dauberman is reported to be writing the new installment, taking over screenplay duties from franchise creator Scott Cawthon. Dauberman’s horror credits include IT, The Nun and Salem’s Lot.
Emma Tammi, director of the first two movies, is expected to return, while Skeet Ulrich has also discussed returning alongside Lillard. Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio and Elizabeth Lail have not been confirmed in this update.
The filming plan remains a window rather than a dated production start. No official release date for the third film has been announced. Lillard’s comments establish progress on the script and intended shoot, without confirming the full cast or distribution schedule.
