Madeleine Arthur and Dianne Doan will star in Doula, a psychological horror film written and directed by Goldie Jones. Dread Central reports the casting, citing Deadline, with principal photography scheduled to begin October 1 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Doan plays a doula who travels to an isolated mountain cabin to assist with a difficult delivery. Arthur plays her pregnant client. Instead of a straightforward birth, the two become trapped in a reality-bending ordeal where escaping may carry its own cost.

The Canadian-US production has James J Yi, Alice Teufack and Judd Tilyard among its producers, alongside Verity Fiction. Andrea Chung and Kristine Estorninos are executive producers. Manitoba’s film and music tax incentive supports the planned shoot.

Arthur’s genre work includes Color Out of Space, while Doan is known for Agents of Shield. This announcement identifies the leads and intended production start; it does not establish a completed shoot, distributor or release date.
