Jessica Rothe has identified the ‘Friday the 13th’ franchise as her dream slasher project. During a Reddit AMA held to promote her upcoming film ‘Beware Boiúna’, Rothe was asked which classic slasher franchise she would choose to join. Her response was direct, with the actor stating, “Somebody get her to Camp Crystal Lake.”
This statement serves as a personal wish-list pick rather than an official casting announcement. While the desire to work with the franchise’s masked killer is clear, whether this creates a professional opportunity for Rothe remains to be seen. The ‘Friday the 13th’ brand has a long history in horror, and Rothe’s interest adds a new layer of speculation for fans of the genre.
Rothe’s career has been closely tied to the ‘Happy Death Day’ series. The 2017 release of the first film surprised many horror fans, largely due to its status as a highly entertaining PG-13 slasher. Her on-screen presence was a significant factor in the movie’s success, helping to define the character of Tree.
Currently, Rothe is actively helping to shape the production of ‘Happy Death Day 3’. However, the project has not yet been given the green light, as the team is still waiting for Universal Pictures and Blumhouse to provide the necessary funding.
In the meantime, Rothe has other horror projects in development. She stars alongside Jane Levy in Joshua Giuliano’s ‘River’, a slasher that premiered at TIFF and was picked up by Universal and Blumhouse. The film is reportedly headed to theaters on January 15, 2027. Additionally, a clip from ‘Beware Boiúna’ featuring a giant snake capsizing Rothe’s boat is currently available for viewing.
