Jennifer Lawrence has joined The Flood, Zach Cregger’s science-fiction thriller, according to Variety’s casting news as reported by Dread Central. Warner Bros. plans a theatrical release on August 11, 2028.
The project reunites Cregger with producers Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment. Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment is also involved, while the film was originally set up at Netflix.
Dread Central describes the story as following a deep-space captain and crew who investigate a mysterious signal. Their discovery of an alien artifact threatens their grasp on time and reality. Those reported plot details point toward cosmic danger, though the production has not released a full public synopsis in this update.
Lawrence’s previous horror roles include Mother! and House at the End of the Street. Her attachment is the new development here. The planned release date should be treated as the studio’s current schedule, with further casting and production information still to come.
