The full trailer for Ghosts: The Possession of Button House has been released, confirming the film’s arrival in UK cinemas this October. The project serves as a feature-length continuation of the BBC sitcom Ghosts, which aired from 2019 to 2023. No US release date has been set yet.

The film brings back the entire original cast, including Lolly Adefope, Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, and Ben Willbond. They are joined by Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe. The series, which follows ghosts from different historical periods sharing a country house with new living occupants, is being adapted for the screen by director Simon Hynd.

Hynd, who directed episodes of the original series, helms this feature length family adventure. The film is produced by Andy Brunskill and Alison Carpenter and made by Monumental TV and BBC Film. It was filmed at West Horsley Place in England. The plot centers on a boy who becomes fully possessed, prompting the rest of the group to find him and restore order.

The trailer is available on YouTube via Shudder. The announcement was covered by FirstShowing.net on September 15, 2026. The film is described as an award-winning BBC comedy arriving for the Halloween season.
