Michael Leavy plays Freddy Krueger in Freddy’s Back, an independent short now available from Fuzz on the Lens Productions. Dread Central reports that the film grew out of the fan campaign supporting Leavy’s interpretation of the character.
Jason Leavy directs the nightmare sequence, with Allison Pittel playing Natalie. Steven Della Salla handles cinematography, and Alana Rose Schiro created the special makeup effects. The prosthetics were designed around Michael Leavy’s own features rather than made to duplicate Robert Englund’s face.
Leavy has worked with the character’s original performer before: he played the younger version of Englund’s character in Fear Clinic and produced Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story.
The distinction matters here: Freddy’s Back is a fan-driven showcase from Fuzz on the Lens and Seashelves Productions, not an official casting announcement for a new Nightmare on Elm Street feature. Viewers can watch the short on the production company’s channel below.
