Mahal Empire has officially released its latest supernatural thriller, Cursed Waters, on Amazon Prime Video. The film is now available for streaming, offering a new entry in the nautical horror subgenre for audiences seeking a dark voyage.
The plot centers on a desperate crew of shipwrecked pirates fleeing the relentless pursuit of the Navy. After washing ashore on a remote, uncharted island, their relief is short-lived when they discover a bloodthirsty cult controls the isolated land. Trapped between encroaching naval forces and terrifying local malice, the survivors must fight to escape a nightmare that proves difficult to overcome.
The production is directed by Adam Werth, with a screenplay co-written by BJ Mezek. The ensemble cast is led by John Wells and BJ Mezek, while genre icon Vernon Wells, known for The Road Warrior and Commando, also joins the fray.
HorrorFuel describes the film as delivering a relentless combination of nautical adventure and chilling folk horror. According to the report, the unforgiving ocean pales in comparison to the nightmare awaiting on land. The release is built around Mahal Empire’s signature style of visceral tension and practical genre storytelling, standing as a new addition to this year’s horror lineup.
