AMC Global Media announced that Angel Melanson has joined the company as Director of Programming for Shudder. The horror streaming service is described as dedicated to genre-defining storytelling. She will work cross-functionally to deliver experiences for the service’s horror fan community.

Based in Los Angeles, Melanson reports to Courtney Thomasma, the Executive Vice President of Linear and Streaming Products. Thomasma stated that Melanson is a well-connected voice in the horror community with a deep understanding of the genre, its creators, and fans.

Melanson joins Shudder from FANGORIA, where she served as Digital Editor for more than five years. She has interviewed leading filmmakers, moderated industry panels, and hosted fan-focused events. Melanson is also the founder of Horror Girl Problems, a horror-focused media platform and podcast.

Her connection to Shudder predates this appointment. She previously appeared in the company’s documentary series Queer for Fear and Into the Darkness: Part III. Earlier in her career, she held content, production, and editorial roles across digital media. She also worked as a freelance journalist, photographer, and video producer.

The announcement coincides with Shudder’s preparation for its annual “Season of Screams” programming event. This four-month celebration features new films, series, specials, and live watch parties. Daily Dead Media reported the personnel change alongside other horror industry updates, including a V/H/S/MIXTAPE poster and first stills from The Cat and the Hatchet.
