AMC has finalized its October horror programming with “Welcome to Horrorwood,” a five-film series scheduled to run from October 2 through Halloween night. The event is booked into approximately 300 AMC locations across the United States, offering a wider theatrical presence than typical repertory blocks. The series is part of the AMC Thrills & Chills program, assembled in partnership with Bloody Disgusting and the metal band Ice Nine Kills.
The lineup includes Hostel (2005), Friday the 13th (1980), American Psycho (2000), Pet Sematary (1989), and The Crow (1994). Screenings are set for Friday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. The schedule begins with Hostel on October 2 and 6, followed by Friday the 13th on October 9 and 13. American Psycho plays on October 16 and 20, while Pet Sematary is scheduled for October 23 and 27. The series concludes with The Crow on October 30 and 31.
Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas recorded a custom introduction for each title, ensuring the band serves a functional role beyond promotional key art. Each screening also closes with the specific Ice Nine Kills music video inspired by that film. The selection spans various subgenres, including a slasher, an Eli Roth travelogue, a Bret Easton Ellis satire, a Stephen King adaptation, and a comic-book revenge picture. The common thread connecting the films is the band’s creative influence rather than a single horror subgenre.
The placement of The Crow on Halloween night serves as the series finale. Alex Proyas’ 1994 film has been a staple of October programming for three decades. According to iHorror, the film will play to audiences familiar with its imagery. This announcement confirms the specific dates, locations, and creative partners involved in the upcoming theatrical event.
